Developing Process Alternatives

Kingston Process Metallurgy Inc. (KPM) was founded in 2002 to provide contract research and development services to chemical and metallurgical industries.
The company’s philosophy is to work with the client to develop processes and better understand reaction mechanisms for a variety of unit operations. This results in a strong interaction between the client and KPM, from concept through to in-house demonstrations of new processes.
We are typically approached by companies who want to test a concept for a new process or want to better understand their existing operations. This includes projects looking at alternative feeds, energy reduction, improved recovery, and environmental issues.
Our project portfolio is diverse but centers on custom experimental work for atypical projects. Work ranges from bench scale proof-of-concept and test work to mini-pilots and full scale conceptual design. Through a strong knowledge of chemistry and an understanding of commercial processes, we are able to effectively balance fundamental research with process development to ensure clients receive practical and sound results from experimental work.

Hands-on process research is at the core of our business.
Computational thermodynamics is used by KPM as stand alone support for clients or to help guide process development in the lab.
KPM can scale up laboratory work to mini-pilot work or assist companies who wish to install their own pilot facilities.
We routinely do process design support for companies to help them in the development of novel unit operations following on from laboratory work.
KPM conducts independent technical process evaluations for financial agencies.
